If you have driven past the intersection of Sunset Hills Road and Town Center Parkway lately, you have watched a restaurant row assemble itself in real time. Six new places have opened or announced inside the RTC Next expansion in the last twelve months, and the fall calendar layers a full season of festivals on top of them. Here is what is worth your Saturday.
The dining map shifted this year
For years the shorthand for eating out in Reston was Market Street. That has quietly changed. The center of gravity has moved a few hundred feet south to Inspiration Street and Opportunity Way, where the RTC Next blocks under the Skymark Apartments and the new Fannie Mae building filled in one tenant at a time.
Here is the current lineup at the RTC Next expansion, in order of opening:

Two things worth pausing on. First, Clarity is the Vienna restaurant that opened at 442 Maple Avenue in 2015, and its Reston debut menu is closer to a special-occasion room than a neighborhood grill. First-course dishes include French onion soup, crispy basil burrata, steamed PEI mussels, and Hudson Valley foie gras, with main courses like a five-spice short rib, pan-seared golden tilefish, and roasted Australian rack of lamb. That is a genuinely new option inside Reston at that price point.
Second, Kusshi fills a gap that has bothered residents for a while. Kusshi Sushi opened in April 2026 at the base of the new Fannie Mae building, and unlike the reservation-only sushi concepts popping up elsewhere in the region, it is taking a more accessible approach. If you have been driving to Tysons for a Tuesday sushi dinner, that trip is no longer necessary.
What it feels like on foot
The practical effect of these openings is that a walk from Market Street south under the Skymark now passes six food doors it would not have passed in January. Toastique is a legitimate morning stop for a jog around Lake Anne or the W&OD, Paris Baguette handles the pastry-and-coffee errand that used to require a stop at a chain, and Kusshi covers the weeknight dinner where nobody wants to cook. Add Clarity for anniversaries and Dogfish Head for a Sunday football afternoon and the corridor covers most of what a household actually orders in a week.
The reason this matters for daily life is density. When the RTC Pavilion is your only anchor, walkability is a promise for weekends. When a second block of restaurants opens two minutes south, walkability becomes a Tuesday routine.
The fall calendar, in the order it will actually happen
Reston's fall isn't a single festival. It is a chain of them, most within a fifteen-minute drive of one another. Pick the ones that fit and skip the rest.
Saturday, September 20 — Reston Multicultural Festival. The event runs at Reston Town Square Park with performances in the Pavilion, and it is billed as a celebration of Reston's diversity and community spirit. Food, dance, and vendor booths from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is the one to bring out-of-town family to if they are visiting that weekend.
September 27–28 — Fall Fun Fest at Reston Farm Garden Market. Pumpkins, plants, and the market's Apple Cider Donuts anchor the weekend, and the run repeats through October. If you have kids or a porch that needs mums, this is the one that solves both problems in a single stop.
Saturday, October 3 — Dogfest. A Reston-specific fixture that lands on the same first-Saturday-of-October weekend as a dozen other Northern Virginia fall festivals. If you own a dog and live inside the beltway of Reston Association trails, you already know the drill.
October 8–12 — Washington West Film Festival at LOOK Cinemas. The festival returns to Reston Town Center's LOOK Cinemas this October 8–12, 2026. A five-day run inside the same complex your grocery-store parking is in makes for the easiest cultural weekend of the year.
October 10–12 and 17–18 — Fall Fest at Reston Farm Garden Market, later rounds. If you missed the September opening weekend, the market runs additional fall festival weekends into mid-October.
A note on scheduling: September 20 is a stacked Saturday across Northern Virginia. Cox Farms opens the same weekend, Mount Vernon runs its Colonial Market and Fair, and the Taste of Annandale is that afternoon. If you are trying to do the Reston Multicultural Festival plus anything else, do the Reston event first and drive out second.
The Wiehle side is next
While the RTC Next block was filling up, a second cluster started forming a stop east at Reston Station. Comstock and Clyde's Restaurant Group announced Ebbitt House at 1860 Reston Row Plaza, describing it as the first expansion tied to Old Ebbitt Grill, with a large indoor dining room and patio. Comstock's official release also included Noku Sushi, occupying ground-level retail at 1800 Reston Row Plaza.
For a resident, the takeaway is simple: Reston is developing two walkable dining corridors, not one, and they sit at opposite ends of the Silver Line's stop pair. If you live closer to Wiehle, the next twelve months are yours. If you live closer to the Reston Town Center Metro, this fall is already yours.
The signal in all of this isn't the individual restaurants. It's that a concept like Clarity chose Reston for its second location and a Clyde's-affiliated brand chose Reston Station for the first expansion of Old Ebbitt Grill in its history. Operators do not put those bets on neighborhoods they think are peaking.
A short weekend plan, if you want one
Say you have one Saturday in October you want to actually use. Here is a plan that doesn't require a car after the first stop:
- Breakfast at Toastique on Inspiration Street. Park once.
- Walk north to the Pavilion for whatever is running that weekend on the Reston Town Center calendar.
- A film block at Washington West at LOOK Cinemas in the afternoon.
- An early dinner at Kusshi or, if you booked ahead, Clarity.
- Coffee and a pastry from Paris Baguette on the walk back to the car.
The point of listing it that way is not the itinerary. It is that this itinerary was not physically possible in Reston twelve months ago. Six new tenants changed what a Saturday here looks like.
A closing thought for residents
Most fall guides for Reston will hand you a list of pumpkin patches and stop there. The more useful frame this year is that the dining side of the neighborhood is being rebuilt in front of you, and the fall calendar happens to sit right on top of the construction.
